I borrowed a book written by someone with bipolar disorder. I myself have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. The author was a medical school graduate training to become a psychiatrist. She managed her studies during manic episodes but struggled with depression when she couldn't cope while working at a hospital. She quit midway without notifying anyone and went on a shopping spree, buying clothes, electronic devices, and even a cruise ticket costing several thousand dollars. Eventually, she realized, "What am I doing?" and decided to write a book about bipolar disorder to help others.
It must not have been easy for her to write that book. Before my diagnosis, I thought her story sounded crazy (I read the book again 5 years later), even though I exhibited symptoms in high school. Now, the book really resonates with me, and I appreciate her courage in writing it.
Another book that resonated deeply with me is "Crime and Punishment." I've suffered from severe OCD, hyperacusis, and depression for years, and reading this book made me shudder at the thought of Raskolnikov's small, dark room dragging him into insanity. When the story reached its climax, I couldn't help but identify with him, feeling a pain in my heart similar to Raskolnikov's reactions in the pivotal scenes.
What books have resonated deeply with you? This question is very personal, and I'd love to hear your thoughts.
